Patient guide

Arrive prepared. Leave informed.

A little preparation helps the dentist understand your concern and helps you compare treatment options with confidence.

01

Before your appointment

Note your main concern, when it began, what makes it better or worse, and any recent dental treatment. Bring relevant X-rays or records if available.

02

Medicines and health

Tell the dentist about medicines, allergies, pregnancy, bleeding conditions, diabetes, heart conditions and other information that can affect care. Do not stop prescribed medicine without advice from the prescriber.

03

For children

Use calm, simple language about the visit. Bring a parent or legal guardian able to discuss health history and consent. Tell the clinic in advance about anxiety or additional support needs.

04

After treatment

Follow the instructions written for your procedure. Contact the clinic for unexpected or worsening symptoms rather than relying on general internet advice.

Consent checklist

Questions before treatment

  • What is the diagnosis and what evidence supports it?
  • What are the reasonable alternatives, including waiting or referral?
  • What are the important risks and limits in my case?
  • How many stages may be needed, and what happens if I delay?
  • What does the estimate include, and what could change the cost?
  • What maintenance, review or replacement may be needed later?

Urgent warning signs

Do not wait for an online reply.

Seek prompt professional care for facial swelling, fever with a dental infection, significant trauma, uncontrolled bleeding or severe worsening pain. Difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading swelling or major facial injury requires emergency medical care.
